It may seem strange to
name an order of knights after the place were people receive help
and healing, but this was not the case in the 11th century.
Originally formed as a hospital in the holy land, the Order of
Hospitallers were sworn to rescue and protect pilgrims traveling to
the Holy Land. Unlike many of the other orders of the time period,
the Hospitallers did not disband when the crusades ended, they
continued with their vows, working instead out of Malta. They
continued to reside in Malta until Napoleon captured Malta in 1798.
Our cloak and surcoat faithfully recreate the outfits that would
have been worn by these noble warriors. Both are made with pure
wool.

The Templars are one of
the most recognized organizations of the crusades. Their legacy is
still around today. Rumors abound as to the history of the templars,
but one thing is certain, they were adorned with the Red Cross on
white. Our Templar Cloak fits in with any outfit from the crusades
on, and is styled after those that would have been worn by the
Knights Templar. A must for any collector or re-enactor interested
in the Middle Ages. Made of High Quality wool.

| 15th Century European Mens Doublet | |
|
The doublet was generally accepted male fashion for
most of the Middle Ages and renaissance. At first it was designed to
be worn as an undergarment, it soon became the main mens upper body
wear. The doublet could be either very simple for everyday wear, or
much fancier, especially in Scotland, where there was a doublet for
every occasion. Our doublet represents one in the form of the 15th
century, and is made from high quality wool and linen. Available in
Large, XL, and XXL.

| Black & White Crusader Surcoat | |

During the crusades, life could be very dangerous. To
cope with this danger, armor and weapons evolved. From the end of
the 11th century all the way to the end of the 13th century, the
crusades were the center of attention in Europe. One of the most
important elements was identification of friend and foe. Since most
men-at-arms wore whatever was available, they would often put on a
surcoat or cloak to be identified by supporters. Our cloak will do
exactly that. Made of linen.
